tsoHost is a web-host which has a target demographic of SMEs and table-top entrepreneurs, web-flow users, designers and freelance developers.

However, when we came onboard, their brand did not reflect the interests and attitudes of those users, so we re-engineered their whole brand.

Overview

We named the branding concept “Downtown Neon” and it offered tsoHost a whole new aesthetic – one which was more in-tune with the interests of their tech-savvy customers.

With such a technically accomplished customer base, we didn’t really need to sell the products’ features as many of the target customers would already be familiar with the benefits of the products and services tsoHost offer – our brief was to be disruptive, to make the brand stand out from the bland crowd.

More details

We began our root-and-branch rebrand by using the neon tube fonts, adding glowing layer styles and concrete textures, then setting this off against jet black backgrounds which made the neon pop.

This evoked a retro gaming arcade aesthetic that many designers and web devs will identify with, as they are also gamers.

We also mixed-in a lot of futuristic design, because people comfortable att the cutting edge of software design are working towards, and passionate about, our technological future.

Inspirational touch-points for us were the 80s cyberpunk film ‘Tron’ and the vibrant palette of contemporary films like ‘Drive’ and ‘John Wick’.

Having employed this aesthetic in a wide range of campaigns online, we also employed it in a series of FoS (front-of-site) video commercials which we wrote, produced and published.

tsoHost also employed us to support their users when they rolled out software updates or revolutionary new products – by creating user-friendly, step-by-step ‘How To’ videos.

Further, beyond our graphic work, we created blog content to support the sales priorities of the company.

In tsoHost’s social media platforms we ran three forms of campaign:

  • Traffic campaigns to support the blogs we wrote and published.
  • Engagement campaigns to build up brand reputation and organic presence.
  • Conversion campaigns for all of tsoHost’s product portfolio.

tsoHost enjoyed an immediate 700% increase in engagement when we rolled-out our new brand strategy.
